Tanya Hart Live

About

Welcome!! I am so glad you are along for our inaugural launch of the Tanya Hart Live Channel.

What a way to kick it off with the 88th Oscars, Hollywood’s biggest night celebrating the movie industry.  After covering the Oscars for 20 plus years it is never dull especially this year when right after the January nomination announcement social media lit up with #OscarsSoWhite. That’s because for the second year in a row no actors of color or movies with diverse themes where chosen.   In 2015 there were a lot of choices that should have been in the nomination mix but most of the Academy voters chose not to include any of them.

Who makes up the voting body of the Academy?  Turns out it’s primarily older white men.  In fact about 76% are white men over 63.  Not to bore you with figures but the reality is that it is very hard to get any movie made let alone get an Oscar nomination and controversy aside there were some really good movies this year.  And since it is Black History month it is certainly worth noting that the Oscar show Co-Producer Reginald Hudlin, the orchestra leader, Harold Wheeler, the President of the Academy Cheryl Boone Isaacs, and the man who built the Dolby Theater, the late Russ Joyner, all happen to be African Americans.  Oh and we can’t forget the Host, Chris Rock, is also Black.  This is a first and thus becomes an historic moment.   So where does that leave us?  Right on The Red Carpet at the 88th Academy Awards where we will see lots of stars including all of the folks of color who have decided to show up and look great.  It leaves us with a protest led by the Reverend Al Sharpton happening right down the street from the Dolby Theater.  It leaves us with great conversations that will happen on the carpet and back stage; since everyone is talking about this…….and most importantly it leaves YOU right in the mix of it all.

So come along for the ride as TANYA HART LIVE PRESENTS……

The 88th Academy Awards.
